YAY!

Yay! I am finally getting my own computer. Well, I guess I already have one, but I mean something more than a large, noisy, calculator with a monitor and GUIs. Jeremy Morgan is giving away his old computer, since he got a new Dual-Core laptop. The original plan was for that computer to be public, and for me to get the old family computer, which is not that bad, and for my computer to go public. Jeremy’s computer is better, but i don’t care that much, I am not going to be playing many games. But, it is a hybrid motherboard, which means it was made in the transitional stage between all of the new and old equipment, and so it is compatible with a lot more stuff, and therefore a lot more useful to tinker with, which is what I mainly do with my computer. The thing about Jeremy’s computer is it has a 256MB video card, which I do not want, but would mean that that computer would be a good family computer, because it can play games better. So, in order to get the hybrid computer, we came to a deal: I help to significantly upgrade the old family computer, and I give my old one to my younger brother Shawn, and I get the new one! Yay! The Windows drive in the current family computer is getting corrupted, but we have Linux on it. However, the upgrade will mean a new 80GB HDD(we are against getting large drives when you do not need them), on which we will reinstall that copy of Windows. We will also buy that computer a 256MB video card, because the one in Jeremy’s computer is not compatible with it. Both of those upgrades are $50, so the entire upgrade process will be $100, and Dad, Shawn, and I will pay 1/3 of the price, each. Therefore, I get a good computer for $35(me), Shawn gets mine for $35(Shawn), and the family one is significantly upgraded for $30(Dad). That is a perfect deal for all parties involved, dont’cha think?!

Specs of Jeremy’s comp:

Pentium4 2.4GHz Proccessor,
512MB RAM (2 DDR slots, 2 DDR2 slots, 1 512MB card in a DDR2 slot)(I will upgrade)
1: CD Drive connector (I think it has a DVD drive)
2: IDE drive slots ( I will install one 60GB HDD w/Win XP(40GB) and Linux Ubuntu(20GB))
4: SATA slots
1: PCIE 16x (has 256MB video card)
2: PCIE 1x
6: USB 2.0 slots (Jeremy said 2 might not work(the front ones))

Wow! That is a rather good computer, if I do say so myself! especially for $35!
