Ramblings of a Bored Geek

A few things to note.

The Weekly Funnies have been terminated due to lack of intrest.  All monthly articles have been neglected as of late.  I am fairly new to blogging, and I am not used to have to post regular articles, please bear with me.  I will try to post interesting stuff as it occurs, but for now, I cannot do the monthly articles, I think I tried to do too much, to soon.  I will try to ease into the life of a blogger, at a somewhat slower pace.  I have deleted the Pages “Family News” and “Prayer Requests”  Due to lack of intrest, relevance, and updating.  I have kept the Church Events page, and I am thinking about how to continue to post family-related posts.  I have added some items to my blogroll, including some Ubuntu rescouces.  As my sister has left, I will return to posting more regularly.

Welcome to the new blog!

Well, okay, same blog. Just different URL/host.  I have imported all of my other posts onto this blog, obviously.  I also have made a title picture for my blog.  Yes, I realize that the title and description of the page are above it, and that does not look good, but I will fix it.  You like my new URL?  I thought that I should change it to something more geek/nerd related, as that is what my blog is about.  I got it off of Stargate Atlantis, from this one episode where you see Dr. McKay wearing a shirt saying “I’m with genius,” and an arrow pointing up.  I thought it was funny.  Plus, everyone knows that I am just as smart as McKay is!  haha.  My other favorite McKay quote was “Carter: ‘Go suck on a lemon!’”  (he’s deathly allergic to lemons).  Well, I guess I can’t just stop to change blogs, and take a week off of posting, so I will try to keep posting posts that do not have to do with the new blog.

On that note, I have had a wonderful day  today, especially considering that it is the last day before Spring Break.  The weather was the best I have seen all year, I got %100 on my math today, and finished my school a hour and a half early.  The girls are having a sleepover/private party (they are not sharing the candy :P) with someof their friends, while we are left to watch movies all by ourselves.  *sniff.* kinda makes you feel lonely, doesn’t it? No? oh, well.

Just So You Know…

I support the decision to blast the spy satellite from it’s rapidly decaying orbit. I mean, if America had an ulterior motive, that is fine with me, but, even so, they spent $40,000,000 to launch that missile. They can’t have been completely selfish.

Bad times, Good times.

Filed under: Family News, blog, large family, long weekend, sick — Trey Edwards @ 5:56 am

Last weekend, Aunt Marion and Uncle Doug from Maryland stopped by for several days on their way to their yearly vacation to Florida. Also, last weekend, Mom and Dad went on a two-day vacation to… who knows where. Jeremy and Annemarie family-sitted for them while they were gone. They left early this morning. Unfortunately, our family appears to be having the flu. Tessa has definitely had it, she even took the test, and came out positive. We think that Dad and Mom have it, and I might have it. We hope that we have not given it to Aunt Marion and Uncle Doug. That is why I have not written anything on here as of late. Nor do I expect to write much more until I am feeling better, which hopefully could be tomorrow, but could be a few more days. I generally get over sicknesses rather quickly.

Oh, and My computer is apparently named Thor. Thanks to all of the… two… people that voted. :-)

Yesterday, and Friday.

Filed under: Family News, GCC, fun, long weekend — Trey Edwards @ 11:25 am

Yesterday was Sunday. We went to church as normal, and we had a youth fellowship immediately after that. We had originally planned it as being at the church, but, since we did not think that very many people were going to show up, we decided to have it at our house, since we have an open invite every Sunday, anyway. After we had the fellowship, Ben and I went and hung out at his house for less than an hour. We had originally planned to spend the entire afternoon at his house, but we stayed longer at our house than we had originally planned. We decided that we were going to get together again next Sunday. Except, instead of less than an hour at his house, by ourselves, I am going to go over to his house, and have lunch with him and the College and Career group, and then Justin, Mike, Ben, and I will go down to Barnes and Nobel’s(or however you are supposed to spell it), and hang out. At five P.M., we had the annual “business meeting” at our church, which lasted a little over an hour, and the elders briefed us on all of the upcoming changes, and what our financial plan is going to be for 2008. Mr. Moorhead stepped down retired as an elder. We are going to get the playground/outdoor recreation area started in a short while, and the soccer fields will be built soon. There are going to be a lot of changes happening soon, now that we own our own building, we can do anything we wanted to do, but were unable to do in the building we were renting. We are even going to paint the Youth Group room. I hope it’s not pink…

On Friday, I will be going back to Birmingham again, to get an EMG done. Electromagnetic-something, I think. I hope that I do not have to wait as long as I did last time. Although I think that the procedure is rather long. I think that that was the thing where they stick stuff in my fingers, and see the response in them, and it takes about an hour, according to the doctor. Or maybe that was not the EMG. Oh, well, I will find out when I get there, won’t I?

Long time no blog.

Filed under: Book, Family News, Linux — Trey Edwards @ 2:00 am

Hi, people. I am sorry I have not been on here in a while, I have not been feeling good at all. I feel pretty decent right now, but I cannot spend more than 5 minutes on this short update, since I need every spare minute I can get, to get as much work done as possible on my school. Well, my Periodic Paralysis has gotten worse within the past several weeks, either just a temporary surge, or not, I am not sure. Fortunately, I am going to a doctor in Birmingham on Monday, and I have great hopes that they will prescribe something for me that has a longer lasting effect than the pills that I have been taking. Naomi is currently in Memphis, on her way to Vietnam. If you are a relative, you probably read the post on Myfamily.com about the trip, but, if not, allow me to give a short explanation. She is going to Vietnam for about a month with a friend so that she can try and find her uncle, and visit her orphanage (I think). there, that was short, wasn’t it. I am doing well other than my increased symptoms, which do not allow me to get as much math done I as am supposed to. I have actually come to appreciate the need to get my math done in a timely manner, now that I cannot get it done 75% of the time. I have also developed a greater appreciation for math now. hey, it sure beats sitting in a chair all day. Speaking of which, I am out of time, and I need to go do somee math while I still feel good. I will post a screenshot of my Linux on here, to show you how much I have learned about it recently. Dad also bought me an 811 page book on my Linux, called “Ubuntu 7.10 Linux Unleashed.” it is a blast, covering pretty much single possible topic, including tutorials and looks at a whole ton of the preinstalled programs, including Firefox, Open Office, and Thunderbird (my favorite Web Browser, Writing program, and E-mail client). Okay, gotta go. If I feel good this evening, I will try to post some more.
